The Museum Of Pop Culture (MoPOP) is excited to announce a new commemorative print of the music icon Jimi Hendrix. "String Theory: Jimi Hendrix Anniversary Print" was created to mark the 50th anniversary of The Jimi Hendrix Experience’s appearance at the Monterey International Pop Festival, the very first performance of Hendrix’s band in America during the legendary Summer of Love, 1967.

Artist Randy Chavez spent three years creating the original seven-foot tall acrylic painting, which depicts a cosmic world in which Jimi Hendrix is found playing the universe itself, surrounded by his muses, fragments of smashed guitars, and bolts of electricity which dance at his feet.

“Jimi Hendrix is an inspiration to me and should be a touchstone for all creators, for all artists,” says Chavez. “This portrait is a sort of culmination of my life-long expression of love for the man and his music. Artistically I felt I had finally arrived to the point where I thought I could describe how I experienced Hendrix.”
